Liza Greenberg is a nineteen-year-old student at the University of Georgia majoring in elementary education. Liza wants to become an elementary school teacher and be the kind of teacher that shapes lives at an early point in a child’s educational career. Liza believes that teachers hold a unique opportunity to shape a child’s life in a way that no one else can. She wants to be the kind of teacher that not only reaches a child through education but also reaches them on a personal level. The kind of teacher that impacts a child’s life in a way that they not only learn life through but never will forget that year of their life.
If someone had to describe Liza Greenberg in one word it would be perseverant. Whether it was overcoming being the child of a divorce, being part of the graduating class of 2020 in the middle of an unprecedented global pandemic, or reaching for her childhood dream of becoming Miss Georgia Teen USA, Liza always manages to find a way to build herself back up and come back into the game bigger, better, and stronger each time. She chooses to look on the bright side of childhood divorce and to acknowledge that she would not have the family she has today had it not been for this particular circumstance.
Liza graduated from Trinity Christian School in 2020 where she was both academically successful and involved with extracurricular activities, all of which came to an abrupt end in March of 2020 with no chances for last spring breaks with friends, proms, or graduations. But again, she came back with a bang and is attending her dream school, has successfully made it on the dean’s list and is planning for a future to inspire other young children. Miss Georgia Teen USA has been the ultimate goal for Liza since she was eight years old. This was Liza’s third year to participate in Miss Georgia Teen USA. Her first year, she made it to the top 15. Her second year she was first runner up and this year she walked away with the title. She wants other young girls to see that it is not always the path you think that you have mapped out for yourself that leads you to your goals, but instead a winding road of hard work, self-reflection, flexibility and perseverance that in the end will lead them to achieve their dream. #iLikeMe is growing far beyond pageant girls in the state of Georgia.
