My name is Alyssa Mawyer, I am 17 years old, and a senior at Broadway High School! I have been competing in pageants since I was 9 and I have grown to love them for not just the big dresses and glitter, but the serving souls I’ve met, the lives I’ve been able to change, and the positive impact it has made on my life! One of my favorite things to do is serve my community through various organizations such as the Salvation Army, Samaritans Purse, ect. But my passion lies with anti-bullying and helping the special needs community. I created my own personal project called “Celebrating Differences” where I teach kids through visual demonstrations and hands on activities that just because we all are a little different doesn’t mean that we have to treat each other differently. I have also been blessed to work with Special Olympics, Miss. Abilities, Miss. Wheelchair Virginia, and other organizations that help people with special needs!
Over the years I have been so blessed to hold numerous titles in several prestigious systems. In 2016, I was IJM Virginia Preteen, and in 2017, I was UNM Virginia Junior Teen. In 2018, I was Miss Virginia High, and in 2019 I represented Delaware at Miss High School America and won the national title! My year as Miss High School America truly is one I will never forget and I am beyond thankful that God blessed me with that amazing opportunity!
In school, I am involved in several clubs including being Co-President of Community Involvement Club, officer of Diversity Club, member of ACES and DECA! My goal is to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and to be a Labor and Delivery nurse one day!
I am also a HUGE fan of traveling and just over this past year as Miss High School America I was able to travel all the way from Las Vegas to The Bahamas, but it is definitely my dream to visit Greece one day and live out all of my Mamma Mia fantasies!
