Meet Skylar Rogers

Hello! My name is Skylar Rogers. I am currently a junior in high school at North Hall High School in Gainesville Georgia. I have lived in Georgia for a little over 6 years now. My dad just retired from the Army after 24 years, what a cool thing I get to say! With that being said, my twin sister and I were born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although we do not remember Hawaii, I look forward to going back and exploring where I was born. After Hawaii, my dad got stationed in Missouri, Colorado, and Tennessee… all for three years each. My hobbies range on a pretty wide spectrum.

A fun fact that I enjoy telling people is that I actually competed on Team USA for the junior olympics doing martial arts. On Team USA, we traveled to Killarney Ireland and competed against many other countries… some of which include Whales, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and more! While competing in Ireland, I earned a bronze medal for my creative weapons routine. My weapon was the Japanese fans. When my family moved to Georgia, we had to take a break from competitive martial arts.  More of my hobbies include competition cheerleading and managing the wrestling team. I have been cheering since I could remember, there is just a sense of accomplishment after finishing the routine knowing you did your best! Recently, I took a liking to wrestling. I got interested in managing the team because my sister is the only girl wrestler on her team. I have been going on four years of managing my high school wrestling team. I am alway busy!

Pageants are a huge part of my life, it is a whole different world. Looking back onto when I first started pageants, I was going through a phase of deep depression and anxiety. Pageants allowed me to have a safe space. In September of 2018, a close friend of mine committed suicide. It was a rough break all around, three other high school students in the same community took their lives around the same time. As most people know, you usually have a platform you pursue in pageantry… my platform is called The River Effect, after my friend. When I started The River Effect, I just wanted to keep River’s memory alive. Now, I am using this anti bullying campaign to raise awareness for teen suicide and depression. Nobody should ever feel the way those teenagers felt, somebody has to speak up. Finally, joining the iLikeMe team has been amazing. While helping with donations, and spreading kindness, the iLikeMe platform is growing to be something BIG! Rylee lets girls know that they are capable of things beyond anything that can be imagined. I look forward to seeing where the future takes the iLikeMe team!
